Carnival Format

The In's and Out's of how the January Carnivals operate

A different carnival is held each week – one for the U13’s and one for the U15’s. In the U15’s, the boys and girls have their own separate carnival during the same week.

The U13 carnivals play 4, 40 over per innings games over 4 consecutive days with no byes. They use the Cricket Australia Junior Format 2 Representative Rules.

The U15 boys carnivals play 4, 50 over per innings games over 4 consecutive days with no byes. They use the Cricket Australia Junior Format 3 Representative Rules.

Teams in the U15 girls carnival play 4, 40 over per innings games over 4 consecutive days with no byes. They use the Cricket Australia Junior Format 3 Representative Rules.

Up to nine quality turf wickets are available in town, with another at Molong (30 km from Orange). Weather permitting the carnival is played on turf.

In case of wet weather, synthetic wickets are available as back up.

Spikes are not compulsory to be worn on the turf wickets. Normal cricket rubbers are allowed.

The carnival is pitched to a high standard – most teams are an Association/Country Council level. Accredited umpires are engaged to umpire – 2 per game where available.

The top 2 teams after the first 3 rounds will play their 4th game as a Grand Final to decide the winner. The remainder of the teams will play their 4th game as a regular game ie not for rankings 3rd, 4th etc.

Where teams finish on equal points after 3 rounds, the MyCricket Net Run Rate will be the deciding factor for which 2 teams will play the grand final.

An additional T20 City v Country game is held on the Tuesday night of each week. This game features nominated players from every competing team. The game is held under lights at the premier ground in the Central West, Wade Park. This game plays no effect on the standings for the carnival. See T20 Night for more information on the T20 City v Country game.
