WESTERN NSW JUNIOR CRICKET CARNIVALS - U13 BOYS RULES
Format Cricket Australia Junior Format 2 Representative Rules
Matches Include 1 x 40 over a per side game per day. 1 x T20 (selected players) game on second evening of each week.
Pitch length 18m
Fielding Restrictions As per Cricket Australia Junior Format 2 Representative Rules
Balls Provided Kookaburra Red King 2 Piece 142g
Over Structure Normal – 6 legitimate balls. There will be no maximum balls in an over.
Batting (40 over games) No enforced retirement rule.
Bowling (40 over games)
  • Maximum of 8 overs per bowler per day, with no more than 4 overs in any one spell.
  • Rest period between spells of a minimum of twice the number of overs in bowler’s last spell
  • Exception – true spin bowlers will be allowed to bowl up to the maximum in any way including in one spell.
Fielders (All games) All fielders apart from Keeper and slips must be at least 10 metres from the facing batter. 13 players can be named, with two non-batters and two non-bowlers.
Protective Equipment All batters must wear appropriate protective equipment including as a minimum: an approved cricket helmet with face grill, two (2) batting gloves and two (2) batting pads. All wicket keepers must wear a helmet when standing up to the stumps.
Shortened Match A live match will occur if the side batting second completes 15 overs or more (unless dismissed prior). The Duckworth Lewis feature within live scoring on PlayHQ will be used to redefine batting innings scores and targets in any instances where playing time is lost and the match is reduced in overs. The umpires are in control of reducing the number of overs according to time lost based on an hourly rate of 16 overs per hour and both scorers and umpires shall agree on the redefined target calculations from PlayHQ before play recommences.
Field Boundaries To provide consistency, the marked boundaries are to be used. Please do not move the boundaries in unless approved by ODJCA Committee. In relation to Wade and Riawena, please use the line found inside the fence.
Starting Time First Day 10.00am – late start to suit any players travelling to Orange on the first morning
Starting Time Tuesday 9.00am – early start to allow extra time after the games to get to Wade Park for the T20’s

Match Times
  • Innings to be completed within a 2 1/2 hour period. Bowling side will be penalised if overs are not completed – 10 run penalty for every uncompleted over. At Umpire’s discretion.
  • ¾ of an hour for lunch maximum.
  • Drinks breaks to be decided between Captains and Umpire prior to game commencement, taking into account climatic conditions. Would consider two per innings is the acceptable minimum. Maximum time period of any drinks break to be 5 minutes.
  • If first innings completed before 12.00pm, second innings should commence immediately with lunch to be taken later at the Umpire’s discretion.
  • The Umpires will have the discretion to complete the game by playing up until 6.00pm. However, the Umpires also needs to take into account other issues including travelling home on the final day, and the T20 Nights.

Appropriate behaviour at Junior Cricket Players, officials and spectators are reminded that smoking / vaping or alcohol are not permitted at Junior cricket matches, at Orange City Council sporting venues or at Kinross Wolaroi School.
Inappropriate language or dissent The spirit of our carnival is one of fair play and respect. Swearing or other forms of inappropriate language, dissent towards umpires including excessive gestures or standing one's ground, and / or abuse of officials or volunteers are not within that spirit.
Table Points 7 points for a win, 3 points for a loss, 5 points for a draw or tie, equal points rankings decided by “Net Run Rate” Formula used within “PlayHQ”.
Other The top 2 teams on points after the first three days will play off for the trophy on day four. Third will play fourth, and so on. Apart from the two Grand Final teams, if this sees teams that have played each other previously in the week, the organisers will in most circumstances arrange it so that teams play different opposition.
Trophies The current team (retained) trophies will continue to be used. Players in the winning team and the runner up team will receive medallions. Centuries, Hat tricks and 5 / fors will also be awarded (Trophies to be forwarded after the end of the carnival)
